A major chemical company in Illinois was using the boil and drain method to clean 4 tanks, using up to 20,000 gallons of caustic and water to clean. This is a reactive chemistry site that makes surfactant intermediates, amides, and sulfates. These chemicals mostly end up in various personal care products. The tanks are 10’x15’ dome lid dish bottom reactors that have internal coils and agitators. They run batch production, so the product mix is always changing.
After implementing Alfa Laval Gamajet rotary impingement tank cleaning devices, average tank cleaning time was reduced from 24 hours to 3 hours per tank! Time saved is used to increase production, going straight to the bottom line.
