Alfa Laval ACE has over 55 years of experience producing quality air cooled heat exchangers for upstream, midstream and downstream applications. In the past five years, we’ve made massive investments to our US operation with the goal of being the fastest, most reliable and most responsive air cooler supplier and service provider in the industry. While other manufacturers are consolidating and outsourcing, we’re focused on our local operation to better serve you.

How air cooled heat exchangers work
The hot medium (e.g. hot water or lube oil) flows through the heat exchanger within the large number of externally finned tubes. One or more fans force air across the tubes and the heat from the hot medium is transferred to the air. To maximize heat transfer, the tubes are equipped with fins that increase the area in contact with the air. Watch the animation to see how our Model E works.

Alfa Laval offers a wide range of air coolers, from upstream models used on drilling rigs to engineered-to-order units in downstream applications with high temperatures and pressures. Our many possible configurations let us tailor each heat exchanger design to fit its operating conditions perfectly, ensuring outstanding operating reliability, high performance and minimum operating costs.

Alfa Laval ACE Model A
Applications:
- Upstream - Field compression
- Midstream - Compressor stations, Gas processing, Gas fractionation
- Downstream - CNG
Features:
- Vertical, sloped section(s) and fan with vertical air ejection
- Sloped sections provide an optimized center of gravity for safer loading and transport
- Available with low-weight aluminum fan guard for increased maintenance safety
Alfa Laval ACE Model C
Applications:
- Upstream - Drilling, Field compression, SAGD/EOR
- Midstream - Compressor stations, Gas processing, Gas fractionation
- Downstream - CNG
Features:
- Vertical section(s) and fan with horizontal air ejection
- Economical and compact alternative to vertical air ejection models
- Easy access to the cooler section during service
Alfa Laval ACE Model E
Applications:
- Upstream - Field compression, SAGD/EOR, Upgraders
- Midstream - Compressor stations, Gas processing, Gas fractionation, LNG
- Downstream - Refineries, Petrochemical plants, Power plants, CNG
Features:
- Horizontal section(s) and fan(s) with vertical air ejection
- Available in single fan to four fan configurations
- Available with low-weight aluminum fan guard(s) for increased maintenance safety
- VFD capable electrical drive for precise air control and power consumption
Alfa Laval ACE Model J
Applications:
- Upstream - Drilling, Field compression
- Midstream - Compressor stations, Gas processing, Gas fractionation
- Downstream - CNG
Features:
- Vertical section(s) and fan with vertical air ejection
- Easy access to the cooler section during service
- Directional plenum allows efficient airflow transition from horizontal to vertical
Alfa Laval ACE Model T
Applications:
- Upstream - Field compression
- Midstream - Compressor stations, Gas processing, Gas fractionation
Features:
- Horizontal section(s) and vertical fan(s) with vertical air ejection
- Available in configurations with one to five fans
- Available with low-weight aluminum fan guard(s) for increased maintenance safety
- Relatively narrow width for easy transport
Alfa Laval ACE Model V
Applications:
- Upstream - Drilling
- Midstream - Compressor stations, Gas processing, Gas fractionation, LNG
- Downstream - Power plants, CNG
Features:
- Sloped sections with horizontal fans and vertical air ejection
- Modular, induced draft fan cells allow for section lengths up to 60 ft
- The special design reduces transportation and plot space costs as compared to horizontal section designs
- Standard VFD fans prewired to control system, installed on unit, reduce operating costs
