Contherm® Core is a scraped-surface heat exchanger (SSHE) for cost-efficient production of low to medium-viscosity products with or without particles. It provides the reliable thermal performance of a standard Contherm®, but with added savings for less demanding applications.

The scraped-surface heat exchanger principle
In scraped-surface heat exchangers, the product enters the cylinder at the bottom and flows upward. The heating or cooling medium flows in a counter-current pattern through a narrow annular channel.
Rotating blades continuously scrape the cylinder wall, ensuring uniform heat transfer. The corkscrew product entry minimizes shear forces, resulting in gentler product handling and a reduced pressure drop.
The product then exits at the top, maintaining high product quality throughout the process. Both the product flow and rotor speed can be adjusted to optimize processing for specific product properties.
