Improve automation and ease of maintenance with a control system upgrade


Decanter and high speed separator control systems are critical to your operation to ensure reliable and consistent equipment performance. As with most of today's technologies, these controls systems are regularly updated with key features and components to increase the efficiency of your process. Over time, older systems become more difficult to operate and service as spare parts become more difficult or impossible to replace. 

We recommend upgrading your automation system every 10 years to extend the lifetime of your decanter or high speed separator as well as to avoid having your equipment out of commission for an extended time as older parts become obsolete.

The benefits of an automation upgrade

Replacing an older control system with one of our standard replacements is a simple process that generally requires no more than few days to commission. Your existing system will not need to be removed from the old gland plate and all existing cables can be reused for the new controls (depending on the conditions and new regulations). There are several benefits of upgrading including:

  • Faster and easier service and troubleshooting will reduce equipment downtime 
  • Spare parts for newer systems are readily available versus older controls that will have obsolete parts
  • SCADA connection to factory system
  • All upgrade systems will be ready-to-connect to Alfa Laval Connected Services

Upgrades and replacements for decanter centrifuge back drive and control components


Our automation experts can review your existing decanter control system and recommend upgrades or replacement of key control components including PLC, HMI, Drives. We can also retrofit the decanter centrifuge back drive system to our standard AC electrical motor. If the existing decanter electrical cabinets are in fair condition, there will be no need to replace the complete cabinets for upgrade.
